ABOUT
Savannah Millsap has pursued her BFA with a focus in graphic design. She pulls inspiration from her close family relationships and strives to incorporate this feeling of connection throughout her designs.
Since 2022, her role on the Marketing and Design team for SIUE Campus Recreation has significantly shaped her creative vision, fostering a design approach that prioritizes engagement, vibrancy, and visual storytelling. Savannah has worked with small businesses and organizations, including Green Roots Hemp Co. and The Land of the Goshen Community Market, where she focused on enhancing brand identity and community engagement.

As a child, Savannah could always be found at the dining room table, surrounded by art supplies, creating storybooks for her family to enjoy. She always sought to bring vibrancy to the world around her, finding joy in infusing color and creativity into her surroundings. Though she lost touch with design as she grew older, she rediscovered her passion for creativity and connection upon starting college at SIUE. Initially pursuing a degree in business, she soon realized her true calling lay in the creative side of the industry, leading her to shift her focus to design.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Graphic design is a powerful tool for delivering meaningful messages, whether creating a logo for a brand or designing a book to share a story. Through projects like a website for my grandmother’s homemade recipes or a children’s book featuring my younger brother’s illustrations, I’ve discovered the joy of bringing personal stories to life. I try to bring this same inspiration when approaching work with my clients. Usually, clients are looking for a graphic designer to elevate the way that their brand, company, or business is perceived. Drawing inspiration from my strong family background helps me connect with clients and provide designs that resonate with their values. When something is of importance to them, it becomes equally important in the overall design process. Using this philosophy allows me to really communicate and elevate meaningful messages.

With this same philosophy in mind, it allows me to explore a universal theme: the significance of childhood. Exploring the importance of childhood through book and poster design provides a meaningful insight into who we were and how it shapes who we are today. It’s important to understand who we are so we can change and grow as people. Having a strong family connection, be it through a biological relationship or through a connection of steadfast friendship or commitment, allows for this process to be understood from multiple perspectives, which is also necessary when it comes to growing as an individual.

This perspective allows me to create designs that not only connect with the client, but with the desired audience as well. By understanding who you are, you can start to better understand those around you.
